Busola Ajayi (CEng, MIChemE) is a Chartered Process engineer and the founder of Heron Engineering which she developed with the support of her family. She is passionate about helping organisations find sustainable Net Zero solutions.
Busola has over 20 years experience in the energy sector where she has worked on capital projects and operating assets. She has worked on projects aimed at helping to implement zero flaring policies capturing gas and utilising for domestic use and processing gas for LNG. She has undertaken GHG (green house gas) screening studies as part of her role as an engineer utilising the EEMS Atmospheric Emissions calculations to rank development options on projects for oil and gas operators on facilities in West Africa, the North Sea and the Middle East.
Busola worked on the 2014 Peterhead Carbon Capture and Storage (PCCS) project in Scotland which involved transport of carbon dioxide to the depleted hydrocarbon reservoir. She was involved in helping to develop the safeguarding philosophy for the existing NUI facility. She helped develop and prepare safeguarding documents and ALARP demonstrations to meet stake holder requirements i.e. minimise harm to people, the environment and asset.
She has been involved in asset development of processing facilities from well appraisal to full development utilsing the "cradle to grave" approach, considering the capital and environmental cost at each development phase, where feasible utilising waste heat recovery options in the design to optimise energy consumption in line with scope emissions reduction.
Busola degree in Chemical engineering included modules in sustainable engineering reviewing policies and regulations such as the Kyoto Protocol, Montreal agreement and developing potential solutions for cities aimed at reducing GHG emissions and providing cleaner air to the population. Case studies included extending the congestion zone, creating vehicle free zones and also extending the carbon markets principle of the Kyoto protocol.
She was responsible for leading the novel "cradle to grave" assessment for her final year design project via PEMS assessment using quantitative techniques for the environmental aspects of the project.
Busola says she is excited to help implement the Net Zero commitments of the Paris Climate Agreement. I understand and appreciate that we are all at different stages of understanding and implementing Net Zero. I hope I can help by offering training workshops to empower companies, teams and individuals on the Net Zero Journey.
